  • Is there any kind of research out there that depicts which muscles are being used the most at certain points in the pitching motion? We know which muscles are being used, but I think it would be interesting to see how much and in what order energy is exerted through the muscles when pitching. -Cheri
  • My daughter has just turned 13. She is a left handed pitcher and big for her age. She can throw well and has speed and control. She has a good change up. Now we are trying to learn the drop ball. We have tried the peal drop technique, and it's coming along. Now her pitching coach is trying to move her to the rollover technique. In short, it hurts her wrist and elbow. It doesn't hurt that bad, but it's sore for several days after a workout. Is 13 too young for roll over technique or do all go through this at first? Her coach is excellent, played division 1 ball and has coached at several universities. We just want a second opinion. -Cheri
  • My daughter is 12 years old and has been pitching for about 4 years. Over the last year she has developed a problem with her elbow hitting her side when she is coming thru with her pitch. This has resulted in a bruise that has been there all year. I've heard this can be corrected with a brace to straighten her arm. Have you heard this? -Cheri
  • What is the best way to get my speed up? -Cheri
  • What would you say are the 5 most important things in teaching the windmill motion to a beginning pitching pitcher?   -Cheri
  • I am coming off of an arm surgery and although I have been released completely to pitch and seem to have my power back, I can’t seem to control the ball and hit my locations. What can I do to help this? -Cheri
  • Every time I try my change-up, it rolls on the ground. This is embarrassing and makes me not want to throw it again. It doesn’t do this in practice. Any suggestions? -Cheri
  • My Dad gets really mad at me for letting the batter get a hit when I have 2 strikes on them. This seems to happen a lot, which makes him mad a lot…I would appreciate any help you could give me. -Cheri
  • I have worked really hard on my rise ball, but can’t seem to get it right. Either it rises out of the zone or not at all and neither of those is working out really good for me. Can I do some drills or something to help this out? -Cheri
  • I have been told to use my legs more. What does this mean? How can I use my legs more? -Cheri
  • I cannot get my drop in the strike zone. If the batters chase the low ones, then I can use the drop, but if they decide to lay off, I may as well not throw it at all.
  • I had a lot of problems last season walking the first hitter of the inning. My coach went ballistic every time it happened. It didn’t and doesn’t seem like a big deal to me since we usually didn’t give up a run. How can I get my coach off my back?
  • How can I get more consistent with my pitches? -Cheri
  • At my end of the year meeting, my coach said that I got behind on too many hitters. What’s your advice on how to get better at this? -Cheri
  • My rise ball goes up, but doesn’t seem to really ‘hop’. How do you get the ‘hop’?   -Cheri
  • My pitcher gives her change-up away because she slows her arm down as she comes down her circle and prepares for release. I have told her about this, but it doesn’t seem to help. What can I do to help her? -Cheri
  • My coach wants me to stop letting my glove hand slap the back of my leg. Why does this matter, and how can I fix it, or should I not worry about fixing it? -Cheri
  • I am on a really good team except for one position player. Usually when the ball goes to her she either bobbles it or throws it away. She happens to be the coaches daughter – (Surprise!). So…she is going to be in that position. How can I deal with this?
  • My speed seems to be slower when I am on the dirt. Why is this?
  • I have a pitcher whose rise ball would make her an All American IF she could pitch in the bullpen! Once she leaves that area, the magic is gone though. Why is this happening and what can I tell her to help her take that pitch to the field?
  • “My screw ball seems to also rise. Is this good or bad?”
